Robert Fai, a worker in the worker-run Jugoremedija pharmaceutical factory in Zrenjanin and an activist of the Udruženje Ravnopravnost movement locally, has just survived an attempted murder at his home. A few months ago threatening graffiti was left on his house (and two other houses belonging to Jugoremedija workers) and last night a concrete bloc was thrown through his bedroom window (narrowly missing his head). The workers have increasingly been threatened by a loose coalition of the former mafia-linked owner Jovica „Nini“ Stefanovic, the old management of the company prior to privatization, members of a union formed by the old owner, and a company linked to a local political party. This is a clear attempt to intimidate the worker and small-shareholder run management to hand over power to the old owners.
