We are going to perform “MEET THE RICH” at the 7th and 8th of June at Kampnagel in Hamburg.

Viennese artist Alexander Nikolic’s performance strategy oscillates between social sculpture, intervention and actionism. For his works, he transforms topics that aren’t meant for art and moves them to a theatrical space – or to a public space, which he declares as theatre. His scenic sculptures are sketched in a process-driven way, but remain open enough to enter into an artistic dialogue with their direct environment. His work ‘Bed and Breakfast’, which he produced for the 2010 Wiener Festwochen, underlined his extraordinary position and has brought him national attention. MEET THE RICH is a interventionist series of performances, focussing on the theme of social disparity. MEET THE RICH confronts the citizens of Hamburg with themselves. With the view of the ‘foreigners’ Nikolic dissects current social imbalance, sharpens it and stages new encounters of the textual, artistic and social variety.
